Liverpool clinched the historic milestone in the Champions League

Up until the semi-final against Roma, Liverpool had 44 goals in 13 games (averaging 3.38 goals per game). This achievement is just one record set by Barcelona in 1999/2000.

In the Champions League semi-final, AS Roma broke through the net four times but Liverpool also pocketed two goals in time. It won the 7-6 final after two rounds and won the right to play the Champions League final.

With that, Liverpool officially broke the record that existed nearly two decades of Barcelona. Liverpool have 46 goals in 14 appearances, while Barcelona have only scored 45 goals in 16 games. This record can be lifted theoretically, because Liverpool still have a final match with Real Madrid in the Champions League final this year.
