200ft-Wide Asteroid will Fly By Earth at 0.6 Times the Distance to the Moon – Eyes On The Skies

    A newly discovered asteroid designated 2018 RC will flyby Earth at a distance of 0.58 LD / 0.00150 AU (224 396 km / 139 433 miles) on September 9, 2018. According to NASA/JPL it is one of the largest known asteroids to flyby Earth within 1 lunar distance this year. The object is expected to flyby us at 12:06 UTC on September 9 at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 5.33 km/s (19.188 km/h). 2018 RC was discovered at ATLAS-MLO, Mauna Loa on September 3, 2018.
