I'm playing around with a new astrology house system. I alway thought it was odd that the sun rises into the 12th house in most astrology systems instead of the 1st. The 12th house has carries traditional significations including loss, self-undoing, prisons, hospitals, and mental illness. Those significations do not at all seem symbolic of the sun or other planets crossing over the eastern horizon to start a new day. And what is it about the 1/12th part of sky just before the eastern horizon that makes it symbolic of the 1st house significations of the self and identity? Doesn't seem to fit. Inspiration stuck, and I thought why not try the first house where the 12th house had been and essentially invert the old paradigm. I'm going to start reading with this and maybe if it's useful, history will favor this new paradigm years from now. I guess we shall see.
