The Sun Conjunct Neptune in Pisces
Through Mid-March

The Sun has joined Neptune in Pisces. This aspect connected at 14°.

The theme of this pattern is

Your ambitions, sense of purpose and self-identity unite with
your spiritual beliefs, your creative drive and your highest ideals.

Here's what this looks like to an astrologer.

What's happening?

For the next two weeks or so, life takes on a far more mystical, spiritual perspective ... and you will have a more pensive, reflective "take" on your life's purpose, your place in the Grand Scheme of existence and your updated conclusions on "what it all means." For those deeply involved in self-development and conscious living, this can be an extraordinarily productive, enlightening time.

Who's in the cast?

The Sun represents your ego, your life force, your willpower and personal ambitions. It describes your basic personality. It gives considerable information about how you excel, what your interests and talents are and how you are meant to operate in the world. It is the best-known astrological symbol ... and the Zodiac sign it occupied when you were born is your Sun Sign -- the sign you name when someone asks, "What's your sign?"

Neptune represents an extraordinary number of things -- your imagination, your spiritual convictions, your capacity for compassion and mercy, your highest artistic impulses ... all of which are associated with your Higher Self and its abilities. It is arguably your direct connection to The Divine Source ... with whom all things are possible.

What are their characters?

The energy of the Sun in Pisces is adaptable, compassionate and extraordinarily sensitive -- especially to the moods, feelings and needs of others. It offers sympathy, help and understanding wherever those can do some good. It is a highly creative force and a profoundly healing one. It is by far the most complex of the Sun Sign energies ... and it "puts right" a lot of injustice and harm caused by the actions of the other signs ... whether they intend to cause injury or not.

In Pisces, Neptune energy is back on its own home turf. Neptune rules Pisces. The two energies are not just compatible, they are virtually indistinguishable. So this fourteen year period -- starting back in 2012 contains a time of doubling-down on all the inspirational, spiritual, humanitarian interests of Neptune / Pisces. But it contains an exceptional emphasis on the dark side of this energy, too -- things like deception, scandal, insanity, treachery, secrecy and criminal behavior, etc.

What's the plot?

Conjunctions in Astrology show a union between two powerful Inner Selves, a time when they will combine all their assets, interests and abilities in a Grand Partnership ... a new round of learning and cooperation as you continue into the next phase of Life's Journey. You get a new "take" on what they can accomplish together, and you will carry this fresh perspective with you into the coming year. (The Sun conjuncts each of the other planets in the Astrological array at least once a year.)

With Pisces conjunctions, you acquire a greater sense of spiritual accountability. You're inspired to live more consciously by your moral beliefs and religious standards. You're interested in doing more to help your fellow man and improving conditions for the other lives that share our planet.

Opportunities to help, heal and support -- yourself and other injured souls -- are more common, along with your desire to follow through on what you can do to change the world ... at least for a little while. You'll also find your imagination is turbo-charged -- and your creative / artistic drive likewise in high gear.

What to expect

  • A more gracious, patient, tolerant attitude toward life, people and their foibles.
  • Lots of artistic inspiration and creative passion ... fueled by an energized imagination and containing unusually profound or universal themes
  • More interest in helping, healing, and simply making life better whenever you can for whoever need this kind of special attention and support
  • A more reflective, contemplative state of mind ... and more interest in finding "deeper meaning" to your experiences and existence
  • More need for rest, recuperation, compassion and forgiveness toward yourself, too
  • A reinforced conviction that there is more to life than meets the eye ... and that you are part of something far greater than you realize

A few words of advice

The variety of experience now can range from simply the resolve to be nicer ... to life-changing epiphanies. Life speaks to you more directly -- and with more clarity -- when Pisces energy is prevalent. Inspiration is everywhere, and your ability to appreciate your own wonder and magic will never be better.

Look for meaning ... and communication from "other realms." Ask Life the questions you want answered ... and then listen, watch ... and be aware. Spirit speaks through symbols, feelings, dreams, visions, coincidence and synchronicity. Be ready to receive them all.

How long does this last?

About ten days.

Looking ahead

The Sun's next aspect is a sextile with Pluto in a few days ... an indication that you may take the insights gained from this conjunction and make some important changes in your professional life or public involvements. The Sun's next conjunction will be in late April when it meets Uranus in Aries -- a union that puts a lot more freedom and independence squarely on your agenda.

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.
