Hi all,
today's the start of international shark week, and to honor these amazing creatures I created a digital painting called Megalodon. For those of you who are not familiar with that term, the megalodon is a giant extinct species of shark that lived approximately 23 to 2.6 million years ago. Snacking on whales, seals and other large sea animals, megalodons make today's great white shark look like Chihuahuas.
Despite the terror that sharks inflict on many people I think they are also very beautiful, majestic and graceful, and needless to say they are important for the ocean's eco system and need our protection.
The artwork shows the enormous creature gliding through the water, slightly startling an unsuspecting scuba diver. Whether the diver travelled back in time or the shark is a marvel of modern gene technology I leave to the imagination of the observer.
I created the piece using 3 different softwares, Illustrator, Photoshop and Painter, and the size is 60 x 24"
Thanks for reading and stay away from that shark fin soup.
