Sandra Marinella was diagnosed of Cancer in 2012. She felt she had lost everything and was on the verge of losing herself too. The only thing that had stayed with her from the age of 9 was her art of writing.

She spent her time, soul and spirit into the art of writing. It was her only attempt on writing her way back to life and finding a way to hold on.

It helped her to listen. To understand what was happening to her and around her. It tamed the voices in her head and controlled the demons. Writing to heal from pain or something similar, does that to you. It gives you an anchor.

In her Book "The Stories You Need to Tell", she talked in depth on writing to heal from trauma, illness and loss. She artistically outlined different methods of letting your voice heard and telling your story, enough to understand it and heal.

FINDING OUR ART OF SURVIVAL -
Art therapy has been practiced over the years. It is the use of creative piece of works and media to stimulate the mind. It has proven effective with people suffering from a trauma, mental illness and any form of pain.

Art changes the way we experience and view life. It stimulates our minds to connecting dots and painting perfect pictures. Scientifically, it increases our serotonin and dopamine levels, enough to bring us back to a state of calmness.

When we create or view art works, we awaken our brain synapses and its communication. The brain plasticity allows it to connect dots, change and evolve over time.

We find our Art by finding what we are passionate about. It could be drawing or painting or photography or music or doodle or dancing. The power of Art lies in its diversity, variety and it being derivative. It is limitless how vast it goes and how fitting it is - There's a place for everyone.
