CRAYONS CAN BE USED AS AN ART MEDIUM

Crayons as a medium are usually frowned upon by artists."Crayons are not meant for artists" is what I've always heard. So I've never really tried to explore the medium. Recently when I had no art supplies with me and just wanted to sketch, I found a box of crayons and decided to just use it.Surprisingly I was quiet happy with the result. Ofcourse the result wasn't like any other medium, it had it's own unique touch to it.

They may have a limited colour palette and may not blend with other colours easily. But they are also capable of a surprising range of texture and colour and richness that you may have never discovered as a kid. It's definitely not easy to use crayons as medium, but Instead of trying to get crayons to fill in every nook and corner of the paper, you can let a crayon act like what it really is, a rigid stick of wax. When you colour with crayons, the paper scrapes off just a little wax with each stroke. The texture of the page catches the edge of the crayon and pulls a bit of colour. To fill in more colour , you have to press it a little harder. The best part? The crayons and the paper are super cheap. You can draw for months on about Rs. 50 worth of supplies. Do try to explore the medium!
