Sheremetev palace

Hello. Today I want to tell you about my trip to Sheremetev palace in St.Petersburg, Russia. As a permanent resident of Saint-Petersburg a have been told about it’s beautiful palaces at school and trough media. But I have never had a chance to visit the Sheremetev palace before.
Sheremetev palace (a.k.a. the Fountain house) is located on Fontanka river, 34 in St.Petersburg, Russia. It was built by the Count Sheremetev in 1740’s.
The Sheremetev family is an old noble family of Russia, which earned it’s loyalty to Peter the Great in battles. For that the Great Emperor granted them a piece of land in St.Petersburg.
After the Revolution of 1917 the Sheremetev palace was turned into the Museum of Russian Nobility.
In 1989 the Sheremetev palace was turned into the Museum of Theatre and Music. In nowadays the Museum houses vast collection of rare musical instruments.
