🖤 Child-like Character Design🖤

Hello Errybunny 😊

So last week there was a competition posted, a child like fish character design for the Lovely Mo!
Unfortunately life got busy and I was not able to get my art in on time! 😔

But I decided to continue my fish 🐠🐟Character design!

Of course, Payne and I will show you the step for step process!

Say hello, Payne!

Okay so all you need is some sharpies, a kitten to scrutinize your work, some paper for kitty to sit on and music!

So firstly I sketched out a few fishies, well the same fish in different kinds of moods.

I don’t know what I’m doing, so just 🐻 with me!

Then I started with a basic color for the fins

I like changing things like this up so that it’s not too two dimensional. So I added another color.

But then again, I don’t want the yellow to stand out too much. So I added some darker orange to the yellow, just to reign it in and accent on the lines in the fish fins.

Then blue for the fish, because obviously blue and orange make sure something just POP

I can’t actually explain how I got the fish to get the shadowing in, I’ll do a kind of explanation;

So I liked using dry cheap sharpies for the shadowing, then it kind of works like a pencil, light for light and hard for dark with the same dried sharpie.

Then just reinforce the lines with a darker shade

I threw in some gold on the fins, just to give it a playful kind of fish, upper class design but still childish play kind of vibe. 🖤

Then I just finished it all off with some shadowing in a different kind of blue, and reinforcing all the black lines and putting some black over the gold!
