Cool Creator Spotlight: Wesley Treat

One of the Youtube channels I enjoy is that of Wesley Treat. He's a fan of retro-futurism, and especially post-World War II space age design and Googie/populuxe architecture. Think 1950s diners, early Disneyland, 1960s Las Vegas, and drive-in movie theaters. He makes a lot of signs, usually in that style. He builds a lot of other neat stuff, too.

His videos walk through his process, show off useful tools, demonstrate techniques, and often reveal mistakes made along the way. He has also been showing his workshop remodel projects including an electric lift to his loft, new shelving designs, and upgrades to his tools. His accident scoreboard video below exemplifies all of this.

Sometimes his tools and materials are from sponsors, but a lot of the time it seems like it's just a case of, "this is what works for me," or, "I'm showing you the label here so you don't ask in the comments." He also blends modern tools and materials with old-school methods.

It's neat seeing how stuff is made, and this guy even makes stuff I'm almost tempted to buy. What do you think of restoration, retro-futurism, and rockets? Share your own interesting links in the comments, please! If you'd enjoy more posts about people doing cool stuff, chime in about that, too, because I could probably make this into an irregular series.
