Walk of Hope Update : Painting on Skimboard Competition in Bayawan, June 24th 2018

It was almost 11 o'clock by the time all the entrants were IN as we have hoped that there will be more and waited for few hours, finally there were a total of 4 all in all. Basically the whole morning were spent playing music, and the kids in the neighbourhood joining @flabbergast-art in jamming with him, playing his indigenous instruments in Dagsa's along the boulevard.

As it was St. John the Baptist's feast, and falling on a Sunday, the beach along the boulevard filled up very early with families bringing food, grilling fish and enjoying their picnic. Kids can be seen at the distance swimming under the heat of the sun. Some kids came up to Dagsa's dripping in water to watch our @walkofhope event and join the festivities.

The more the merrier!

Themed "WALK OF HOPE" design on skimboards

Having a bit of a hangover from last night, i wasn't fully paying attention to kuya Marlon as he was explaining the competition's criteria, although I knew beforehand of the theme from the start. Entrants were ages 18 and below.

Without further ado, see our kids in action!

The only girl in the competition.

There were no time limits with the competition. Although the skimboarding competition was meant to follow immediately, factors such as no waves, the heat was so intense and the kids were still practising.

Spectators and the entrants didn't seem to mind the delay so there were no pressure to finish the Artworks. While waiting for all to finish, kids were jamming, playing native and indigenous instruments.

Our sound system was blaring off Filipino songs so the kids were following using their drums. These were found in the shed, beside the cafe and brought out in the street of the Dagsa's.

The progression

As much as I wanted to convey how amazing the atmosphere was, it was too hot to take pictures. At one point inside the cafe, i felt jealous of friends enduring and having fun under the sun.

People in UK seeks the sun...or perhaps in places like Denmark. My friends, here in the Philippines, people have suffered of heat stroke. In my experience, a few minutes under an intense heat have created nasty symptoms so as much as possible, I stay out off it.

Now all of the entries!

Any favorite? There's not much to choose from so which one is your fav? We only needed 3 winners with one honorable mention to reward all entrants.

Any bet on which one was the winner?

We all went straight to the beach for the SKIMBOARDING competition afterwards where the plan was to announce all the winners together. I had to leave in the middle of it to catch an early flight from Dumaguete City this morning and we needed a bit of daylight to travel as there was an issue with the car's headlights.

Skimboard competition post to follow!

@flabbergast-art with Tatay Dagsa.

@flabbergast-art and Tatay DAGSA will be spearheading our @walkofhope TOUR, bringing Music and Arts to our unpriviledged Filipinos in Visayas and Mindanao, culminating in Luzon. This in lieu of STEEMIT PHILIPPINES' mission TO PROMOTE THE PLATFORM THROUGH ITs' CHARITY INITIATIVES.
