'What are our thoughts, such is our life.'

This is handwritten calligraphic work I did on my studies, mixing red and blue ink. It is written in Cyrillic Constitutional Letter, which is first Cyrillic and was main literary letter of Orthodox nations in the Middle Ages. It was traditionally used for writing and copying manuscripts and holy books, so naturally this was done in the monasteries.

Considering that, I thought that it was great way to answer the task by writing the most famous words by great Serbian Orthodox clergyman and monk of the more recent generation, Father Tadej (1914-2003). He spent most of his monastic life in Vitovnica monastery, which was also name of his birthplace. Tomislav Štrbulović (this was his baptized name) was very weak as a child, and later, as a young man he got very sick. Doctors predicted him only five years of life left. Because of that he decided to completely dedicate himself to God. Great help to him on his path were Russian monks he found at Miljkovo monastery. It came out that prediction was wrong, and Father Tadej lived until his 89. year.

His wise words are still inspiration and great source of solace and piece for many people. They have such impact on me too, and that was also the reason why I chose to write his most famous one, meaning 'What are our thoughts, such is our life.'
