There and back again ...

Where do I begin after a four year hiatus, hence the 'there and back again'. I have moved provinces, that's the biggest thing I guess, and I now reside in the fairest Cape with my daughter Tammy and her Shaun, for which I am most grateful. My other daughter Jess is not far from me either, alas my boys are in the Midlands, in Natal, I do miss them so.
I had three weeks to pack up my then home on planet Ramsgate (so named as I landed there 14 years ago, not knowing a soul and it was like a very foreign land) , so it has taken me quite a while to find my feet again, especially with my Art on Leather work. I have so many pictures of the processes and finished products to share with you from this time. I will however, begin with a project I unearthed whilst unpacking.

I found a scrap of leather, in a factories cast off's, that were given me as a kind gesture as I had been struggling financially for some time. This was an imperfect piece that was for the chuck-it bucket, due to the fold and the scratches. Therein I found, was a clear outline of the African Continent. I am not sure why, but I chose the engrave a baobab tree thereon. I do love the majesty of these great trees and it somehow just fit the narrative.
I decided to retool it to make the image pop a bit more ...

I then added a background colour, a kind of moonrise effect if you will.

The final touch was to have the moon, naturally, so herewith the moonrise ...

I have to let this piece dry now, it will take several days, and then decide how to incorporate in in to something useful.
I thought perhaps a backpack or cross body bag. Watch this space and we shall see, what we shall see.
Blessings in abundance fellow hivers, good to be back!
