The mukimono began in China about 2000 years ago, for the decoration of dishes and events. At the moment the carving is continued in the usual way in restaurants and big events.
Thailand, this art was imported from China in 1364, when one of the palace princesses decorates a floating lamp (used in a traditional Thai ceremony) with figures carved from fruits and vegetables. In 1932, the art of carving was "democratized", when the ruling king decided to extend it by forming the school teachers.
