He was also considered a protective god of hermetic art and he had the ability to clean metals from the mines before they were used for alchemical steps or the production of weapons and sometimes he and his equivalent hephaestus from Greek mythology were also associated with destructive properties and is also often associated with occult faith and allegedly he had a forge inside the Mount Etna in Sicily. The importance of this Roman deity often comes to the present and he was depicted in many alchemical paintings as well as other works of art and sometimes he was even portrayed as the creator of alchemy and from a spiritual point of view he was often associated with transformation and the destructive forces of nature and not without any reason he plays an important role in the alchemy.
