For those who live under a rock Banksy is one of the most famous influential street artists of all time, he is also a political activist. He orginated from Bristol in the U.K. and has works on buildings walls around the world. After living in Bristol for some time I though I would share my favourites.
This first painting is just at the end of park street in Bristol. God only know how he did it the picture has to be taken from a bridge.
Banksys take on the girl with a pear earring. Awesome idea using the alarm bell box as the prominent part of the painting.
This painting is extremely famous. Kissing coppers. It was painted on the Prince Albert pub in Brighton UK. Brighton is a popular gay scene which is what makes this painting so amazing. The location and content is perfect. I believe it sold for around $750,000. Yep that's right almost 1 million.
I saw this and idea on the news a few years back. So an old guy set up a stall selling banksy for $60. Only 8 sold people obviously took them as a photostack copy. Later that day Banksy confimed on his website they were all genuine. There value now in the region of $120,000 each. Not a bad buy for a lucky few.
The next is another of my top paintings. It was painted on the West Bank wall Israel.
Another fascinating piece. A rip of the Monet water Lilly painting. Highlighting our massive consumption and waste of man made products.
