El arte figurativo, tambiรฉn conocido como Figurativismo o arte representacional, es un gรฉnero artรญstico que consiste en la representaciรณn natural del entorno a travรฉs de imรกgenes reconocibles, contrario al arte abstracto este busca la representaciรณn de imรกgenes identificables, se relaciona entonces el concepto de arte figurativo con la "imitaciรณn de la naturaleza" procurando siempre lograr el realismo artรญstico a travรฉs de diferentes estilos, bien sea a travรฉs de la distorsiรณn, idealizaciรณn, impresionismo, o exagerando algunos rasgos caracterรญsticos como se logra en la caricatura, o a travรฉs de otros diversos estilos como el simbolismo, detallismo, arcaรญsmo, esquematismo, entre otros.
Las obras de arte figurativo es representada la apariencia externa del modelo, se puede trabajar de distintas formas, por ejemplo, el artista puede trabajar con el modelo delante, observando sus detalles conforme va realizando el trabajo, o bien tenerlo en su memoria, este ejemplo tambiรฉn se observa en las pinturas paisajistas donde los pintores realizan toda la obra en el sitio donde se encuentra su modelo que es el paisaje en si mismo (plen air), otro caso se da cuando el pintor trabaja parte de la obra frente al modelo y luego terminarla en su lugar de trabajo (llamado apunte "del natural") el cual es el metodo que la gran mayorรญa de pintores y escultores utilizan. Tambiรฉn se puede tener el modelo en el taller, tanto si se trata de una persona, como de objetos. En las escuelas de arte se contratan modelos para posar y ser retratados bajo criterios academicistas, con pleno objetivo de estudio, gรฉnero llamado precisamente "academia".

Tal vez lo mรกs complicado de este trabajo fue encontrar la tonalidad perfecta para la piel, fue en esto en lo que estuve trabajando la mayor parte del tiempo, no entiendo aรบn por quรฉ pero la noche siguiente cada vez que revisaba la pintura, el color de la piel se habรญa vuelto mas opaco, asรญ que debรญ pintar un sin fin de capas hasta que el color se mantuvo, ademรกs, hay una mezcla entre gris, rojo, naranja, amarillo, negro, azul y verde en toda la superficie, y fue muy tedioso conseguir el equilibrio sutil para no perder el realismo.
