Crackle Enamel Handmade Ring

Hello steemit! This is a handmade ceramic ring made by me and my husband. It is made with artistic clay baked at around 1000 °C and the technique used is called crackle. We baked it four times in the oven with different enamel colour every time. Cracks are made because of the special glass which when it comes out of the oven it cracks by the temperature change. It needs a few days out of the oven to make bigger cracks. Then we put new enamel on top and we bake it again.

The new coloured glass goes inside the cracks and it combines with the older colour. Each piece can never be the same even if we would like to because every time it depends on the thickness of the glass and the oven environment like for example what colours have the pieces next to them. Every time, it is a small surprise for us!
