They are a huge part of the cuisine in sea-faring cultures like Northern Europe or Eastern Asia.
Fresh pickled seaweed salad topped with toasted sesame seeds... one of my favorite dishes of all time. It's so refreshing and healthy. You can taste all the nutrients absorbed from the ocean, but not in an overly salty or fishy kind of way.
