Searching for Internet Dweller Part 4

Part 3

Internet Dweller: mpbd.three.cgsspv

Nam June Paik made this series of Internet Dweller sculptures with his hand created video playing on the screens. The videos may have been created with a device he invented with Shuya Abe called Paik-Abe Video Synthesizer

Paik-Abe Video Synthesizer

I have seen only two examples of the video clips playing in the eyes of The Internet Dwellers. Each video is different but has similar imagery. Spinning masks that morph into Buddha heads, repeating images of a nuclear reaction, robots, factory workers, businessmen with computers, computer chips, new airplanes, desert.

Is Paik in one of the flashes of images?

The Five Colleges and Historic Deerfield Museum Consortium tells us that: "The screens run an approximately 8-minute, synchronized video program of images without sound created using a system based on chance (adopted from John Cage’s composition strategy of randomness)."

Next in part five I find the origins of these Internet Dwellers in the stacks of the Rockefeller Foundation Archives.
