Mini documentary about an architectural marvel from the former Yugoslavia // also a Björk cover // Ensh

My fellow Steemians,

I made a mini documentary about a legendary old building in Belgrade called BIGZ. It is one of the most famous works of Yugoslavian architecture. Built between 1934 and 1941, it was originally the headquarters of the National Printing Institution of Yugoslavia. It has since become an important artistic and social haunt. Full of rehearsal spaces, recording studios and mini performance venues.

BIGZ is a massive building located in the Senjak neighbourhood of Belgrade. Its impressive stature provides an incredible view of the Belgrade skyline.

Between the 1940's and 1980's the building employed around 3000 workers. During the social and economic unrest that followed the breakup of Yugoslavia BIGZ became largely unused. By the early 2000's it slowly began its revival as a breeding grounds for young artists, small business owners, musicians, architects and designers.

It is really quite remarkable. Full of impressive graffiti and street art. At any given time you can hear local heroes Repetitor, Artan Lili and Ti rehearsing. Check these bands out below:

For those of you who don't know. I'm also a musician that goes by the name: Ensh. This mini documentary also has a Björk cover I did of the song "Enjoy". Please check it out and enjoy!
