Located on Humboldt Bay in Eureka, California, the Wharfinger building is the main office for the Harbor Master, a community event space, and the Eureka Yacht Club.
We struggled with this building for about two weeks before we finally got this image. The client requested a sunset, that was the easy part, the much harder part was getting light into the two tower portions of the building. We set up 4 interior strobes, on 30ft stands extending up into the ceiling, then had to figure a way to fire the strobes while shooting from across the marina. We ended up using two Norman power packs (one inside with the lights and the other outside near the water, both turned all the way up to 2400ws) and a trusty set of Pocket Wizards to get the shot. Damn things have saved us more than once ;)
