iPhone's A11 Bionic is faster than a 7th gen i5 MacBook Pro? Should I care? It depends on how old you want to feel.

Should I care about benchmarks?

You should care about things that you do every day. Benchmarks give you a preview of how something will perform certain tasks. Benchmarks that time how quickly a processor can render a file is particularly important to me.

How old do you feel?

I've been reading some comments around steemit that argue that the specs are great, but "you can type faster on a computer." That depends on what you're used to. Some people can type much faster on a phone. Part of me feels like I think differently when typing on a computer. Plus lots of people are learning voice input before other methods.

Do kids still want computers?

There are a lot of things you can do on both devices. But how many computer-only programs can you name? I suspect that there are more apps that are phone-only.

While a computer can be many things, a phone can be most of the same things.
