Now when I arrive, I see the exact same cat on this site, and that is not possible. Loise, a little worried, told her partner, Mark, how strange she found being able to see exactly the same cat sitting in the same way and looking at her with the same intimidating gaze in two such different and separated places. Even she knew that what she was saying made no sense, but she was worried because she was definitely sure: it was the exact same cat. Mark also looked at the cat, but he didn't remember if he had seen him in the car parking lot when he left where they were. —I can't believe it's the same cat— Mark said, a little worried. —It has to be that they look a lot like each other. Mark also tried to calm himself because he really couldn't remember that cat had been near them before, but the look of that animal caused him a certain concern. Mark and Loise then walked in the direction of the building they were going to enter, but they stopped again and turned to look at the strange cat. Just then they heard a crash. As they looked, they noticed that the small building they were going to enter had just suffered a serious accident. They were barely safe. Then, hugging and scared, they immediately grabbed their cell phones and started calling for help. It was pure chance that, after these calls, they turned to look at the cat again... and found that there was no creature there. They looked at each other without saying a word. They waited until ambulances and help from firefighters and medical personnel arrived. Then they walked away calmly. Never again in their lives did they want to mention the strange cat or that sharp and disturbing look again. * * * * * *

* * * —Marcos, creo que ese gato ya lo he visto. —¿Cuál gato? —Ese gato que me está mirando sentado en esa esquina. —Lo más probable es que sean solamente ideas tuyas; todos los gatos se parecen un poco. —No, Marcos, te aseguro que ese mismo gato lo vi hace un rato cuando nos montamos en el carro. Ahora, al llegar, veo exactamente el mismo gato en este sitio, y eso no es posible. Luisa contaba un poco preocupada a su pareja, Marcos, lo extraño que encontraba poder ver exactamente el mismo gato sentado de la misma manera y mirándola con la misma mirada intimidante en dos lugares tan distintos y separados. Incluso ella sabía que lo que estaba diciendo carecía de sentido, pero estaba preocupada porque definitivamente estaba segura: era exactamente el mismo gato. Marcos también miró al gato, pero no recordaba si le había visto en el estacionamiento del carro al salir de donde estaban. —No puedo creer que sea el mismo gato —dijo Marcos, un poco inquieto— Tiene que ser que se parecen mucho entre sí. Marcos también trataba de calmarse a sí mismo porque en verdad no lograba recordar que ese gato hubiese estado antes cerca de ellos, pero la mirada de ese animal le causaba una cierta inquietud. Marcos y Luisa caminaron entonces en dirección al edificio al que iban a entrar, pero se detuvieron nuevamente y voltearon a ver al extraño gato. Justo en ese momento escucharon un estruendo. Al mirar, notaron que el pequeño edificio en el que iban a entrar acababa de sufrir un grave accidente. Estaban a salvo por muy poco. Luego, abrazados y asustados, inmediatamente tomaron sus celulares y comenzaron a llamar por ayuda. Fue pura casualidad que, después de estas llamadas, voltearan a ver otra vez al gato… y encontraran que allí no había ninguna criatura. Se miraron entre ellos sin decir palabra. Esperaron hasta que llegaron las ambulancias, la ayuda de los bomberos y el personal médico. Luego se alejaron tranquilamente. Nunca más en sus vidas quisieron volver a mencionar al extraño gato ni tampoco esa mirada aguda e inquietante. * * * * * *
