Old Drug Store Cabinet

I recently did a short blog on my depression glass but the cabinet that it's stored in has a story of it's own. This is one section of about 40 running feet of cabinets that where in my home town drug store. It was the kind of drug story you could get a malt, or and ice cream sundae in real glasses. On a cold winter's day you could get a grill cheese and cup of soup.

The real story was that my parents frequented this little drug store during their time in high school. The owner's watched them start dating and fall in love. They were married shortly out of high school. Those owner's retired and sold out the business but continued a friendship with my parents.

Many years later when the next owners decided to auction off the place and contents my father was determined to buy all the running display cabinets. And he did. He use them to display his large antique collection. Well at least some of it.

It's all oak and glass comes in two pieces and is about 10 foot tall. I'm so lucky to have a room that has ceilings tall enough to accommodate it! It does have one small crack in the top of the glass but it's such treasure to me!
