Old pickup trucks along the road

Hello, steemians! Welcome to my page, eh!

In a previous post, I talked about taking an overnight trip to Copper Harbor in the Keewenaw Peninsula in Upper Michigan. We watched the sun go down over Lake superior from the beach at Eagle River on the north shore of the Keewenaw Peninsula, and then we went to our motel in Mohawk, about 10 or so miles from Eagle River. The next day, we started heading back toward home, with several stops on the way. We decided to drive back through the town of Lake linden and along Torch Lake on the way back to Hancock to cross the bridge over the portage canal. It's the only bridge across the canal that separates Keewenaw county from the rest of Upper Michigan.

On the road between Lake Linden and and the bridge, we came across a parking lot full of really old pickup trucks and other vehicles. Of course, we had to stop and take a look at them. There's a large newer garage building next to the parking lot, so maybe these trucks are waiting to be restored to working condition.

First, my favorite, a Studebaker with a flatbed. The green truck behind it is a Chevy cab over truck from the 1950s, I think.

The interior wasn't all that bad, considering how old this truck is.

This is an old Chevy truck, probably a 1 ton or 1-1/2 ton, with nothing on the frame rails. These could have been used as a flatbed, stakebed, or dump truck, or they could have carried a variety of other things on the back. This is probably a late 1940s truck.

These trucks are all in fairly decent condition considering their age and use over the years, and especially considering that this is the land of rusted out cars due to the use of salt on the roads in the winter. These old trucks are less rusty than a lot of vehicles that I see from the 1980s and 90s around here. I would like to think that these trucks will be restored to usable condition at some point in the next few years.

That's all I have for this post, thanks for stopping by to check it out!
