Akatsuki No Yona | Anime Review

Warning! This post has spoilers!

Hoo boi, Akatsuki no Yona is a ride.

So we have Yona as our main character, a sheltered princess who wants to marry her cousin, Soo-Won. Everything changed when Soo-Won decided to kill her father and crown himself. The only thing left with her was the hairpin Soo-Won gave her, and her bodyguard and childhood friend Hak. They went to Hak's village and learned about the four Dragon Warriors who unified the kingdom. They now begin a journey of looking for those four Dragon Warriors and save the kingdom.

The first OP was really nice! It was just instrumental and showed you pictures of what happened in the story. The second OP was stuck in my mind for a long time, and for me, it showed that Yona improved.

What I really like about this anime is that Yona's character developed really well! You can see that she learns that she has to toughen up and practice instead of staying ignorant, and she's usually in the midst of the fight. Soo-Won, though he is an antagonist, can be seen actually caring for both Yona's and Hak's lives, as you can see his pain when he was told that Yona died. He can also be seen as someone who genuinely cares for the country and tries to improve it.

There's also that one antagonist who is swallowed by grief when he thought he had killed Yona, but he changed for the better! He turned from a useless character into a wholesome dude who's trying to help villages that are too weak to help themselves.

The only thing I dislike about this anime is that it got cut off before it really became great. I wish that this anime would get a season 2, though unlikely as it may be.

Do I recommend this anime? Yes

Thanks for reading!
