Can you see it. This is a Pacific Spotted Scorpionfish (Scorpaena plumieri) camouflaged amongst rocks. Scorpionfish are ambush predators, using camouflage to mask their presence before taking prey with a rapid gulp if its gets too close.
I shot this while on a dive trip to Melpalo, a very small group of islands of the west coast of Panama. I will be puttling a trip report together for this adventure very soon.
