Golden Eagles are the most extensively distributed around the world and the largest in North America.
Golden eagles are very agile and can reach a speed of 320 km/h when diving after a prey. Interestingly golden eagle is the second fastest in the animal kingdom with Peregrine falcon being the fastest with a highest recorded speed of 389 km/h by NAT GEO.
The golden eagles are extremely powerful, they can actually drag a mountain goat off the cliff.
They mostly hunt rabbits, dear, goats and squirrels.
Golden eagle is a very large bird, its wings are broad the wingspan is 1.8m - 2.34m and 0.66m - 1.02m in length. The females are larger than males. Females and males weigh an average of 5.1 Kg and 3.6 Kg respectively.
Mountain goat weigh between 45 kg - 140 kg, so it puzzles me to see a golden eagle that weighs less than 10 kg drag a goat that weight of the cliff and hold on to it in air for some second before dropping it to get it killed. That really amazes me.
