altcoin marathon #24- Burst

burst.png

Burst was introduced in 2014 and is currently ranked ~250th in market cap. The coin is worth ~77 Satoshi. The max cap is expected to be ~2.158 billion burst and currently ~1.8 billion in circulation. This coin is a proof of hdd capacity mining which is advertised as much more energy efficient than proof of work mining. In proof of capacity miners write a large set of data and stored on a hdd. Then miner reads through it as fast as possible and if they are the quickest to complete the reading they will be rewarded with Burstcoins. Any burstcoins experts who can clarify the process in detail is greatly appreciated? I am an outsider looking in so do not know all the ins and outs.

The development team for Burst has made a wallet compatible to windows and andriods. There is many unique features Burst has such as smart contract and cross-chain transaction, which is similar atomic swap between BTC and LTC. Burst can be exchanged with Qora. Note coinmarketcap does not ranked Qora in market cap but does provide links with additional information on the coin. First impression is the coin has a group of followers but not as active as Burst.

Burst's wallet also has an integral exchange feature for owners of the coin to exchange for burst assets. Burst assets are tokens created within the exchange where people give it a price for by exchanging the tokens with Burst coins. Somewhat similar to bitshares.
