#CONSTIPATION - serious problem with a simple solution.

Its quite a long time that i made a post, sorry for that. Now i am back with a new topic and that is CONSTIPATION.

WHAT IS CONSTIPATION?

It is defined as delay or difficulty in defecation, present for 2 or more weeks and sufficient to cause significant distress to the patient.

Reason behind selecting CONSTIPATION as my topic !!

First reason for selecting this topic is, its UNIVERSAL. Its a common problem faced by many individuals and even children.
It can be solved easily and without any complications. Early treatment can cure this with minimum side effects.

Why it became a common problem??

How oftet do you eat fruits and vegetable .? And how often do you eat pizzas, burgers and junk food.
The answer for is in the question itself.
Because of many reasons people were habituated to have junk food, ready made fast food. In this busy world, everyone was running towards their targets and goals, neglecting their health.
The food we take have a great impact on our health.

CAUSES OF CONSTIPATION

Constipation is of two types:

  1. FUNCTIONAL CONSTIPATION:
  • Due to increase intake of low residue diet.
  • Sedentary lifestyle.
  1. ORGANIC CONSTIPATION.
  • Intestinal nerve or muscle disorder- Hirschsprung disease, spinal cord abnormalities.
  • Systemic diseases- Diabetes mellitus, Hypothyroidism, celiac disease.
  • Drugs- anticholinergic disease, lead, vincristine.

MANAGEMENT

DISIMPACTION.
It is required in patients who have a rectal impaction, means presence of a large mass of feces on per rectal examination.
This is by using polyethylene glycol and many other laxatives.

PREVENTION

As always said

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

Its better to prevent the conditions that leads to constipation than to take treatment after suffering from it. As early as we start taking treatment the results will be good. With minimal side effects and complications.
Prevention is by taking the following steps.

  1. Avoid junk food and take plenty of foods rich in fibre and water.
  2. Avoid Sedentary lifestyle, go for a walk or do some exercise daily.

By this way you can reduce the risk of getting constipation, which is the most embrassing condition we face.

To make everyday feel energetic and refreshing, start the day with a pleasant mind rather than depressed by constipation.
