robot harvesting peppers

In recent years, in modern European greenhouses, there is a high demand for automating work. This is related to the availability of skilled labor that receives repetitive tasks on harsh climatic conditions from greenhouses. The availability of manpower decreases rapidly.
It also encourages 4 countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, and Israel, to build a consortium of basic and applied research organizations related to modern greenhouse management. In the consortium there are a variety of disciplines, one of which is agricultural robotics.
The consortium is conducting research to assemble robots capable of harvesting fruits, especially peppers. This pepper harvest robot they call "Sweeper".
The sweeper robot will soon be moved to a commercial greenhouse (Tuindershoes) in ijsselmuiden, dutch, for further experiments. Previously, the functional tests in the laboratory had to confirm that the robot was able to harvest the fruits in the artificial plants, reliably.

Harvest peppers in a very large greenhouse no longer need to be manual. His successor is a tireless robot.
