Most of Africa has no Idea about Crypto-Currency

Hey Steemians

I live in Uganda-EastAfrica and have been involved with Bitcoins and a few other cryptocurrencies for now about 2 years. Statistically Nigeria, Kenya and SouthAfrica have the largest Bitcoin trading volumes in Africa now and not so much activity in the rest of the countries.

For so many reasons;

1) Largest percentage of the African population has little or no access to the Internet which keeps them away from a lot of technological advancements happening in the rest of the world.

2) High levels of illiteracy rates in most African countries with most people having little or no access to Banking facilities or even still Banks lack presence in most rural areas.

3) Freedom suppression in most African countries by dictatorial regimes and hence limits people from exploring new ventures or ideas for fear of condemnation.

4) Neo colonialism still being exercised in a number of African countries who therefore wait for policy guidelines from their colonial masters before any policy implementation. Mostly due to those that still benefit from donor funding to capitalize their deficit budgets.

Africa though has the biggest potential for this technological advancement in comparison to having been the most successful in mobile phone digital transfers with countries like Kenya with the use of their Safaricom mpesa product that moves transactions catering for about 40% of the Kenyas GDP.
