If Africa is split in two, this is what it looks like

Nairobi - Cracks near the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, predicted to make the African Continent split in two. Africa will be divided into two main plates namely the Nubian plate and Somali plate.

The Nubian Plate covers most of the African continent, while the Somali plate covers a smaller area.

Based on a photo illustration from Ghana media, Joy Online, Wednesday (21/3/2018), looks 'new continent' that separated from mainland Africa has elongated shape. This 'new continent' consists of Kenya, Somalia, Tanzania, and half of Ethiopia.

The crack in the busy Mai Mahiu Road makes traffic around Nairobi affected by problems. In addition, the collapse of the soil also 'swallows' all the water in the area through which it passes.

The slopes of the Somali plateau will move closer to Madagascar. The two continents of Africa will be separated by the oceans.

Reporting from Kenyan media Kenyans.co.ke, the land cleavage will be completed within 50 million years. The process is now estimated to have lasted 25 million years.

Geologists estimate the Somali plate has moved away from the Nubian plate at a rate of 2.4 centimeters per year. Activity push or pull each other in the crust causing rocks to slide up or down.
