The Breed is a unique feature in the mountain of afghanistan.
And its local name is tazi spay or saga tazi.While othet names of its breed are Tazi, Balkh hound, Baluchi hound, Barakzi hound, Shalgar hound , Kabul hound, Golandy hound .
They have power to run and turn well.Their height varies from 64-69 centimeter while their weight varies from 23-27 kilometers.
They normally have a life span of about 12years their most common health issue is cancer which is 31% old age death 20% cardiac death 10.5% urologic death 5%.
Those that die of old age normally have a life span of 12-14 years , their major health issues are allergies and cancers.
They are also among the dogs most likely to develop chylothorax which is a rare condition which causes the cycle fluid to enter the Dog chest cavity.
These conditions result to lung lobe tension (in which the Dog's lung twist within the chest cavity requiring emergency surgery).
Other health issues are largyngeal paralysis, Dilated cardio myophaty.They are also prone to central diabetes insidiplus (CDI)
