The product
The Aergo platform consists of 3 parts: Aergo Chain, Aergo Hub, and Aergo Marketplace.
Aergo Chain is a blockchain with a support of creating and maintaining own side chains. Delegated PoS is used as a consensus protocol. One of the most successful implementations of DPoS is EOS consensus algorithm. In short, all nodes choose some nodes for a vote (like senators are chosen by civils in politics). It makes the process very efficient and resource saving.
SQL is chosen as smart contracts language because there are millions of SQL developers: why choose Solidity and spend a lot of money to hire rare Solidity developers? Sounds perfectly logical and business oriented.
Side chains creation and maintenance support provide up to 1m+ TPS – enterprise size business needs scalability.
Aergo Hub is a development infrastructure, an interface for development of dApps: from hosting a source code on a repository (like on GitHub) publicly or privately to testing and deploying dApps on Aergo Chain.
Aergo Marketplace aims to enable p2p sale and purchase of the next types of computing assets: Storage, Computing Power, Algorithms, Contents and so on.
Amongst other tech stack, Aergo has a file system called AERGOFS, which is based on Facebook’s Haystack tech. It aims to provide a high-speed stable decentralized file system.

2018 Q3 (now we’re here) - developed distributed version control that offers advanced backup & restore
2018 Q4 - test network will be released to the public to try out.
2019 Q1 - deterministic and autonomous operation of dApps, branching and merging available
2019 Q3 - final version of the project; public repository hub, the marketplace for business will be delivered to the end users.
Due to the fact that Aergo team aims to create a full stack blockchain ecosystem for enterprises, the roadmap timings seem very tight. If the team will make it, it would be a great result.

Aergo token is a utility token which will be used in smart contracts, DPoS protocol and as a medium of exchange within Aergo platform.
