Rencong merupakan senjata tradisional yang digunakan di Kesultanan Aceh sejak masa pemerintahan Sultan Ali Mughayat Syah yang merupakan Sultan Aceh yang pertama. Rencong emas milik Sultan Aceh dapat kita jumpai di Museum Sejarah Aceh, dari bukti sejarah tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa Rencong memang sudah terlahir sejak masa Kesultanan Aceh namun pembuat pertamanya sampai saat ini belum diketahui.
