This 6-Year-Old Boy Was Abandoned by His Mother, Leaving Behind a Red Basket. When People Saw What Was Inside, They Couldn’t Believe Their Eyes!
Mothers who live in poverty are sometimes forced to abandon their children or put them up for adoption. It’s a difficult situation for some but those who do it believe that it would be the best thing to do in order for the kids to have a better future. Such is the case of a six-year-old boy who was abandoned by his mother on the side of the road. She left him with a red basket. When bystanders took a look at what was inside, they saw something even more precious than clothes or money.

Two days ago, Vietnamese locals found a six-year-old boy abandoned on the streets of Saigon. According to the little child, his mother left him there at around 5 am. She told him to stay there while she refueled her motorcycle at a nearby gas station. Unfortunately, his mother never came back. She left behind a red basket which her boy kept by his side. When people went to check on it, they found the boy’s baby brother snuggled up inside the basket, covered only by a few pieces of cloth.
“This morning outside the church a two-month-old boy and his brother were abandoned on the street,” Nhu Goc, the local commune worker said.
Nguyen Thi Hong Chau, deputy director of the Board of Directors from Thu Duc Youth Village (LTNTD) recalled by saying:
“Child protection heard crying right near the main gate of the village along Vo Van Ngan. One boy who was six years old was in a state of panic, sat crying so hard, alongside the other boys [sic], two months old, in a red plastic basket. The boy recounts, when the sky was not bright, the mother transported by motorbike and put them on the roadside. She told them she was refueling but did not return.”
They immediately notified the authorities regarding the condition of the two kids. The police then took them to a nearby hospital to get checked since they haven’t eaten in hours. Nhu Goc said:
“The baby has currently been taken to hospital but anyone who knows information about the parents of the child please contact the ward. We hope donors can help the baby. Why anyone can leave them like this we don’t know. There is a risk the boys could have been kidnapped and sold while they were vulnerable.”
