The primary thesis of your post is that the political left is the defender of liberty
Yes, and I stand by that. I'll repeat once more: conservatism = defending the status quo of hierarchical power based on material wealth, progressivism = breaking the hierarchy. That's wildly generalized but makes the point that's always been true. You're right in saying that many of the socialist experiments have become state-capitalist realities, but it's also true that many small scale socialist experiments function just fine, even today.
The modern left uses the term "state" instead of "king." The ideology leads to top down dictatorships.
That's nonsense, pardon the phrase. The left uses the terms "democracy" and "collective". You must be confused with the small contingent of "tankies", Marxist-Leninists or even the ridiculous MAGA-communists. Conversely, the right replaces the "state" with capitalists, completely bypassing the fact that this is already the case. You see, the state should be representative of the democratic will of the majority, with a constitution that protects the rights of minorities; if that was the case, state-ownership would equate collective ownership more or less. Democracy fails every time when the means of production are in private hands; that's why it's failing now, and that's why it failed in the U.S.S.R. where the authoritarian state was that private owner.
Modern leftist ideologies use a format in which the intelligentsia creates conflict. The ruling class uses the conflict to consolidate power.
I suspect you've taken too seriously the rhetoric concerning Cultural Marxism. Who are the "intelligentsia"? How do they create conflict? Do you agree with the likes of Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh and Fox News, who claim it's the left's identity politics that's inciting hate and hate-crimes against the LGBTQ+ community? The only thing I can agree with is that the ruling class indeed uses the old strategy of "divide and conquer", but that ruling class is, and always has been, the owners of the means of production, feudal lords in the past, capitalists now.
The dialectical method you describe is correct, but you need to add that Marx's particular version of it is based in the class division created through a method of production based on the private ownership of the means of production. Ideology aside, we are material beings who depend for our survival and evolution on interacting with the material world using labor. The way we organize that production, the production of the stuff we need and want by using physical and mental labor to transform natural resources into end-products, defines the economic base on which our social relationships and cultures develop. Historical materialism views our world through that lens, and the resulting dialectic is one between the owners of the means of production (the land, the factory, the tools, the labor) and the ones who sell their labor. So
Modern left wing ideologies lead to consolidate power.
Is not only wrong, it's the exact opposite of reality.
I'll have to leave it here; I feel like I'm giving a base course in socialism here. We'll have to agree to disagree on this point :-) I do appreciate you though, so thanks again for having this little discussion!
