Good morning hiveans! Wishing you a happy Sunday. This is @zusi78, welcome to my blog.
There is a quiet illustration that stays with you.A woman calmly lifts the Esc key on a giant keyboard and climbs out. No panic. No drama. Just a deliberate decision to leave.
That image is more than art. It is a reminder for everyday life. Most of us live inside invisible keyboards — workplaces, relationships, routines, and expectations that keep demanding more input. The culture around us often says “push through, don’t quit, stay loyal.” But the Escape key exists for a reason.
I once worked for years under a boss who openly appreciated my work. Everything changed the moment I got married. Suddenly every task was criticized. Faults were found where none existed before. In a board meeting he even said out loud that I had “changed” since I got married. The threats followed: “I would sack you…”
The constant picking wore me down. One day I realized something important — I did not have to wait for him to push me out. I could choose to leave first and protect my peace. So I resigned.Looking back, I have zero regrets.
That decision was my Esc key. It was not running from difficulty. It was refusing to stay in a place that had become toxic. Staying can be courage. Leaving can also be courage. Both are choices. The Esc key simply exists so we never forget we still have the second option.
You are not a machine designed to keep receiving input forever. You are human. And humans need exits.Have you ever had to press your own Escape key — at work, in a relationship, or in a situation that no longer served you?
I would love to hear your story in the comments.
This is @zusi78, signing off.
