Splinterlands: From 500 Unlucky Coins to Glory: My First Luckiest Longshot Finally Arrives!
Fellow Battle Mages of Praetoria, this is @zusi78.
After weeks (and many, many unlucky Fortune Draws) of patiently stacking those green Lucky Coins, I finally crossed the magical 500 mark and the game rewarded me with my very first Luckiest Longshot! From the below 👇 screenshot,I already have 33 coins counting towards 500 again.
For those of us grinding with lower SPS (I’m currently getting only 4 Fortune Entries per modern ranked set of 5 wins instead of the 10–12+ that higher-staked players enjoy), every single entry feels earned the hard way. So pulling this card felt especially sweet. The system really does give something back even when the big foil prizes keep slipping away.
Splinterlands is no walk in the park, but that's what amps up the excitement.A winning strategy weighs stas, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and beyond. That's why you must factor them all into your deck building.Toss in strong cards to boost your setups, and push hard to rack up as many victories as possible! 🔥
Luckiest Longshot is a special "Extra" card from the Conclave Arcana set (released around late 2025). It is not a normal pack-opening card. It was created as a consolation prize for players who participate in the weekly Fortune Draws (a lottery-style system for rare foil cards) but don’t win the big prizes.
The theme is humorous: the character is the “unluckiest rock gnome in all of Praetoria.” Even when you’re unlucky in the lottery, you still get something.
How do you get Luckiest Longshot?
- Buy a Fortune Pass (costs 125 DEC or Credits) so your Fortune Entries count.
- Earn Fortune Entries by playing ranked battles (Modern/Wild), completing daily quests, opening certain loot chests, advancing leagues, etc.
- If you don’t win a prize in the weekly Fortune Draw, your unused entries convert into Lucky Coins (1 Lucky Coin per entry).
- Every 500 Lucky Coins automatically gives you 1 copy (1 BCX) of Luckiest Longshot.
- There is also a Lucky Coin Leaderboard. At the end of the Fortune Draws period, top placements can earn special Gold Foil or Black Foil versions of the card, or second-chance draws.
The cards you receive this way are unbound (tradeable on the market) but can only be burned for Glint (not DEC), so they don’t inflate the DEC supply.
Card Overview.
Luckiest Longshot is a 7-mana Common Neutral Gnome unit that shoots both magic and ranged attacks( dual attack). This is coupled with 2 armor,7 health and 4 speed at full max as shown.
Abilities Explained Simply
Stray Shot: (Level 1 – this is the brand-new “debilitation” / downside ability)
It triggers even if the ranged attack misses. This is the “unlucky” part of the card — it can accidentally hurt your own team.
However, it can be cleverly used in the No Pain, No Gain ruleset (where units get stronger when damaged by allies) or to trigger abilities like Enrage or Painforge on your own monsters. I still prefer this to Electrified and Incendiary abilities.
Scattershot: (Level 1 as well)
Shatter: (At Level 5)
Stun: (At Level 10 / max)
Strengths and Weaknesses (Practical View)
Strengths
A Neutral element, therefore it can fit almost any team.
Dual attack types = ruleset flexibility.
Decent speed and health once leveled.
Disruptive tools (Shatter + Stun) at higher levels
Free progression for consistent players.
Weaknesses
7 mana is not cheap for the damage output.
Stray Shot can backfire hard if you’re not careful with team composition.
Scattershot randomness can feel frustrating.
Being Common means it takes a lot of BCX (around 400 for a regular foil max) to fully power up.
BATTLE.
Briar Patch, Heavy Hitters & Close Range
This is the lineup and my opponent is the one having the Luckiest longshot almost at full max( level 8 to be precise). You can see her at the top left on the battlefield.
Round 5, Scene 4.For the screenshots not to be too much for this post, which is already too long,I am going to start from round 5. You would see how Luckiest longshot operates with her dual attack( magic & ranged) and the effect. She attack first with magic, followed by ranged. And when she does that a member of her team must take that -2 damage( stray shot) as shown in this scene.
Effect of stray shot on team member.
Round 7.We now have a 1 Vs 1 situation. His Luckiest longshot and my last standing card, Calabash Sage an Ulund, with a tank heal ability. Now since there are no other allied units by the side of my opponent luckiest longshot on the battlefield, she would be the one taking the -2 damage from the stray shot. So painful 😣.
Round 9.The last stray shot that took her out completely.
Great card I must say,but you must be careful when using it.
Final Thoughts for the Community
This card is pure #Splinterlands soul. It rewards grinders — especially those of us who don’t have massive SPS stakes pumping out double-digit entries every set of wins. Even when the Fortune Draw gods ignore us, the Lucky Coin system still drops a little love 💕 😘.
I’m proud of this first copy. It’s not maxed, it’s not foil, but it’s mine — earned one patient, unlucky entry at a time.
Who else just hit their first (or second, or tenth) Luckiest Longshot? Drop your screenshots and thoughts below. Let’s celebrate the unlucky ones who keep fighting!
Stay lucky out there.
