Good morning Splinterlands community!
This is @zusi78, and it feels great to be back with another update.
I am especially happy to share this epic battle for two big reasons.
First, if you look at my lineup you’ll notice that three of the six monsters I fielded were Ulunds. These are cards I personally upgraded from level 1 all the way to their current levels. Seeing them perform at this stage is genuinely satisfying — it feels like watching your own hard work pay off in real time.
Second, my opponent was significantly higher-ranked and more established on the leaderboard. In Modern Ranked Bracket III, beating a stronger player usually comes with a solid rating swing and this match delivered. I walked away with a massive +60 rating
Splinterlands is no walk in the park, but that's what amps up the excitement.A winning strategy weighs stas, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and beyond. That's why you must factor them all into your deck building.Toss in strong cards to boost your setups, and push hard to rack up as many victories as possible! 🔥.
The Battle.
Element(s)To Choose From: Fire,Live & Dragon.
Format: Modern Ranked – Bracket III(Silver).
Ruleset(s): Lost legendaries & Heavy Hitters.
My team leaned heavily into the Ulunds, supported by a few complementary pieces that helped control the board and absorb pressure. Despite facing a Nidhoggr-led squad full of dangerous goons, the Ulunds stood firm. Their tankiness and consistent pressure allowed me to grind out the victory even against a higher-rated opponent.
I had three Ulunds on the battlefield. Among them was Calabash Sage, whose tank and heal abilities provided consistent pressure on the opponent. He was a delight to watch. Kudos to my opponent as well—his squad was powerful and entertaining to watch.
What really worked in my favor was the ruleset and the available elements. That’s why I went with Eternal Tofu, which grants thorns to all allied units and proved a real pain for my opponent’s melee attackers (he had about three of them on the board). It paid off and ultimately led to my victory.
Like I said earlier, getting +60 rating in Bracket III after an upset win like this is the kind of result that makes the grind worthwhile.
