La IA nos hace caparazones vacíos | Artificial Intelligence makes us empty shells
1/4/25
AI is undoubtedly a tool, an incredibly good one in these times, but it is not our enemy, we are the ones who turn it into one.
Every time I log on to social media, I see a post from someone who consulted AI about their problems, their loneliness, and they even assume that thanks to this they don't need psychological treatment. So my question arises:
Will this be the era with the greatest problems?
And every time I try to answer that, I think, "yes, it's quite likely." Today, people work three times as much and earn less, which means that many children around the world are raised alone.
This is undoubtedly the beginning of everything. Children at home, without any useful guidance, don't know how to behave, and in the worst cases, don't know who they are. We are introducing something really bad: Identity problems.
And now there's something else: AI as a personal psychologist.
People believe it's okay to use it and that it's even more useful than a psychologist who has to be paid. Does AI say what you want to hear write what you want to read? Is this a strategy to drive humanity to total decline by affecting the most important and valuable thing: its brain?
This last bit sounds a bit paranoid; I thought about it too, but it's quite curious that this phenomenon is happening en masse.
The worst thing is that we all know how much attention governments pay to mental health. At least in countries like Venezuela, it's very little. Paying is extremely expensive, as is life. Many struggle between paying for their mental health or eating and having their health decline. The same goes for everything related to our health, something basic, something truly important, but it's part of our reality.
This, like all problems that go unaddressed, creates a crisis that is difficult to control.
Not only mental health is at stake, but also human capabilities
It is estimated that some capabilities have been lost over time.
If you don't believe this, ask yourself: Can you find your way without Google Maps? This, although it may not seem relevant, is relevant: that a cat knows where it stands and how to get back home better than a human, or that a dog can return home even if its owner has abandoned it far away, and a human needs an internet connection to know how to get back home. It already shows how badly we're doing as a society.
Because yes, technology is excellent; it's made by humans who never cease to surprise us with each creation. In addition, it's so useful that we can do countless things from the comfort of our homes.
But what are we using it for?
Is it positive? Or is it turning us into empty shells?
There lies the dilemma.
And these are just a few things on my mind. You might be wondering if I use AI in my daily life. I've already been asked this question on Threads when I wrote a post related to it.
To which I can answer you with complete sincerity: I use AI for things that are truly beyond my capabilities, but everything related to my human abilities, I do myself.
I write my texts, record my videos, edit them, cut, paste, plant my plants...
As someone wrote, paraphrasing and adapting it to me: I want AI to do the laundry (something I don't like to do), answer messages for my online business, while I dedicate myself to creating and enjoying life.
I don't want AI to live for me, doing the activities I love to do, I don't want it to raise my children (which I don't have, but I think about it), I don't want AI to turn the world into an empty place, because I know the world, and just thinking about it is terrifying.
But as always, this depends on each of us, on our actions. Whether we really want to move to do something for our lives, or whether we just want AI to bring food to our mouths while we watch TV for hours.
And this isn't just something I'm raising for ordinary citizens, but also for the governments of the world. Every person in power has a responsibility and goals. What are they? Where are they leading the world?
