My favorite mode of transportation would be flying or usind aeroplanes. I know some people love road trips with the windows down and music blasting, while others dream about train rides through scenic countryside, but me, miss me with all that just put me in an airplane, preferably on a flight that's at least ten hours long, and I'm happy. I know that most people complain when they see a double digit flight time on their boarding pass. They start calculating how many movies they'll have to watch or how sore their backs will be by the time they land, that not me, me I'm thinking, this is perfect. Lol
Flying, for me makes the journey feel like part of the holiday rather than just a way of getting there. The moment I get to the airport, of course i dont like the hassle of the airport, its too crowdy and you have a chance of missing the flight, but on the other side you can just wander around the terminal, grab a snack and watch planes taxi by, and before you know it, you're settling into your seat with nowhere else to be.
Long haul flights as ive said are my favourite because they feel like a mini vacation in the sky. I usually spend the first hour just looking out of the window, that is if i get the window sit, even though the view eventually becomes nothing but endless clouds. Then comes the entertainment. I'll watch movie after movie, sometimes even rewatching films I've already seen because, somehow, they just hit differently at 35,000 feet. Last time i watched and rewatched the lord of the rings trilogu. Add a pair of noise-cancelling headphones, a blanket, and the dim cabin lights, and you've got one of the coziest places to relax.
One thing I surprisingly enjoy is the airplane food. Yes, I know airline meals have a terrible reputation, but I've always found them interesting. Every meal seems to reflect the culture of either the country you're leaving or the one you're heading to. It's almost like getting a little preview of your destination before you even land. One meal might introduce you to flavours you've never tried before, while another reminds you of home. There's something exciting about opening that tray and seeing what they've prepared. That bit of suspense, and yeah im a foody.
Of course, flying isn't perfect and ive had experience not so nice, for the longest time, I struggled with barotrauma. During take-off and landing, the pressure changes would leave my ears in pain. It wasn't just uncomfortable, it could make the whole journey miserable at least in my early days of flying. Thankfully, over time, my ears seem to have adapted, or maybe I've just learned how to manage the pressure better. Either way, it's become a thing of the past, and I'm grateful because now I can enjoy every part of the flight without dreading the descent or change in altitude.
People often say the destination is what matters most, but I think the journey deserves more credit than it gets. I love flying so much. It's fast, incredibly safe, and unbelievably convenient. Give me the window seat, a long international flight, cozy balnket and im good to go
