The 3D effect is a technique that uses two images to trick the brain and create an illusion of depth, surely you have heard about it from a couple of years ago when this new fashion was on the lips of every movie lover, as I remember very well that the different movies that were released in theaters we could see them in 3D, but what has led me to write this is the fact of thinking what has happened to 3D technology, because if we see it from a current point of view, where all things have evolved, it seems that 3D is no longer as popular as before.
I invite you to read this new article that I'm sure you will find interesting, and remember to leave your opinion in the comments so we can discuss a little about this....

Photography and 3D Viewers
Since human beings discovered their two eyes, these have been in charge of perceiving the world with a slight disparity between them, which allows us to appreciate the depth of what we are seeing, let's say that this is the simple way to explain it, and the easiest way for all of us to understand how our sight works and the depth that is so different from the movies or games we see in just a flat screen without any dimension. Throughout history, artists and scientists have tried to replicate this effect using almost identical images with that disparity, making people see three-dimensional scenes, so I think you can understand how this whole 3D theme started.

With the advent of photography it was possible to capture images and, with technological advances, it was possible to capture two images simultaneously with a slight disparity between them, just what was sought after at the time. This allowed man to capture depth in the scenes. However, not everyone immediately got used to the 3D effect in photographs, besides I see it as something without much interest I would say, even I, I did not get used at all with this 3D in general, when this came to my country, I remember it was big news, as many people were interested in seeing movies with this style of perspective, I must say that I have only seen one movie in 3D, I managed to see it in a movie theater near where I live in the company of my brothers.
At the time of entering the cinema a young man showed us the 3D glasses, it was a novelty and it was something that filled me with intrigue to know how a 3D movie would look like, but I did not get used to this style, for me it was confusing and I admit that I could not enjoy the movie in its entirety, here an image of the model of the glasses I used at that time.
This way of seeing things in 3D was adapted to many things like cameras, glasses in different models, and not only to watch movies, because I also remember watching Comics or animated comics with this 3D style.
3D Cinema
But as this community is focused on cinema, and so is my article, I will try to focus only on the application of 3D in Cinema, let's forget all of the above, although 3D photography had its heyday, it was cinema that really amazed the public in the 19th century.
Moving images recreated past moments as if they were dreams, allowing people to see unfamiliar places or relive images of loved ones. In 1922 "The Force of Love" was released, the first film projected in anaglyphic 3D (with red and blue lenses), that typical lens that we are used to seeing in CINEMA images, its popularity in the cinema was so great that today this model or style of glasses with two colors is the one that most represents the idea of 3D. However, it was in the 50's when a real boom of 3D cinema took place, with movies like "Man in the Dark" and "House of Wax".
Boom and Bust
Throughout history, the 3D boom has occurred several times, although it has never quite worked. In the 1980s, films such as "Friday the 13th, Part 3" took advantage of the technology. However, there were times of setbacks due to the economic crisis and slow adoption by users. Despite this, in 2009, "Avatar", directed by James Cameron, became one of the highest grossing movies in history and made us dream of the future of 3D, and Avatar was a great movie with a great backstory, a movie worthy of 3D, so I would say that this style is not very suitable for all types of movies or genres, and to a large extent I think this was a limiting factor.
For you to understand a little bit what I'm saying, it's like watching the movie of: Titanic, with a 3D effect, it wouldn't look good at all or would draw much less attention, then the film industry had to look for good moments or good movies that were really in line with this style of viewing.
3D Today
In more recent years, 3D has tried to make inroads into the home market with devices such as the Nintendo 3DS and some high-end televisions. Although it has not reached its full potential, it is still a fascinating technology that allows us to see the world in a three-dimensional way, but with everything we have today, I dare say that the 3D effect may be forgotten, since technologies like virtual reality are much more interesting to see today, or at least that's what I would say, but even so, the 3D effect has left an indelible mark in the history of cinema and photography, and although it has had ups and downs, it is still a subject that continues to captivate and surprise us.
But for now I will leave this article until here, and I want to invite you to leave your opinion in the comments, it will be interesting to see what you say about this technology, thank you very much for reading my article until the end and I hope you have a happy day.
