Currently, the Alberta Conservation Association is working to purchase the "Porter Conservation Site" which has 155 acres in a settled area, basically untouched, with the Raven River running through it.
Alberta is unrivaled in the kilometers of public accessible trout waters, trout abundance, and top end sizes as well.
There is currently a "Drake" conservation site which hosts about 2 km of the Raven River. Adding the Porter site will make over 4 km of public accessible fishing grounds. This is a great area for an avid fly fisherman who loves to get back into the woods and fish places others normally do not venture to. This territory hosts above average spawning grounds, and exceptional opportunities for brown trout. You could fish all day and still not see it all!
I personally love that Alberta conserves the amount of land they do, and makes it accessible to the public for fishing, hunting, hiking, etc. If you would like to help donate to buying this section of the Raven River,
