It was 5 months ago, I was sitting with my friend and we were playing chess in real. I was on the verge of winning even though I didn't know how to play but I knew the basic rules. My cousin was in tense because he was unable to take his next step, he was thinking for less than a minute, suddenly he picked up his phone and clicked a photo to ask AI for next step. The AI gave him proper guidance and the match was finished in a few seconds. I lost the match and it didn't feel exciting anymore. That moment made me wonder if we are becoming too dependent on technology.
I know that AI is now very essential for us, the task we used to do for hours now AI can make it quickly for us. Within a few seconds our problems are getting solved. The use of AI is everywhere. It's not always accurate, they have already stated it that it could make mistakes because it's made by humans after all. But the amazing part is that it's always available.
However, everything has both negative amd positive side, which is nothing new. I think using too much off AI can make us stop challenging ourselves. Like if I use AI for every decision and stop thinking of new ideas then it could be harmful for my brain. Because brain will get used to quick work and cause laziness. People nowadays have very short attention span and they are used to watching short reels. if there's a longer reel, they would avoid watching it. They don't watch longer videos anymore because they feel restless.
Even three hours of movies are not tolerable for them. So these reels have manipulated our mind so badly that our attention span reduced. I have control over my mind, I don't do such things. I watch both short and long videos. So, it totally depends on us that how we will use it. We should have control on ourselves. We need to stop training our brains in a certain way. The same goes for using AI, if we start depending on it too much, we may lose our creativity.
It doesn't mean you have to completely stop using AI. It means you should know your limits. Use it only when it's necessary. Just like attention span, if you lose it doesn't mean you gotta stop watching reels. You just need to avoid yourself from getting addicted. In the same way we should solve problems with our brain at first, if we can't solve it then we take the help of AI. Over time, this method will be able to fix the willingness to learn on our own.
Nothing is good for us when we use it excessively or get addicted. I wouldn't blame AI but the humans. If they can't control themselves, it's their problem not the problem of AI. It is an amazing invention that can save time and help us understand difficult topics. The important thing is to use it wisely. Instead of letting AI do everything, we should use it to improve our own ideas.
AI does not have the ability to think originally and that's what make human beings unique. We can not let us get dependent on it too much. In the end, ease always has a cost if we let it control us. We can enjoy its benefits without giving up the skills that make us human.
