If the government decided to remove cash completely and only allow digital payments then not only my life but others life will change as well. From my point of view digital payment is useful but I do not want cash to disappear forever. I feel both are important for us.
Long time ago, me and my family we went to the rural area because that's where my grandmother lives, and we were there on a vacation. A few days later it was mother's day and I wanted to buy some flowers for my mother. So, I thought of purchasing it from a small roadside flower seller. I took my phone with me because I thought I could pay digitally. But after I reached there, I had seen an old man who was selling those flowers but he did not have the option for QR code also I noticed he didn't own any phone.
When I was asked him that if I could pay digitally somehow, he smiled and said, "I only take cash." I searched my pockets and I forgot that I had no cash on me. To be honest, I was a bit embarrassed and then I decided to return home without the flowers. When my father saw me sitting sadly he quietly gave me some cash and said, "Not everyone lives in the digital world." That moment I realized that how important it is to have both and not erase one completely.
I had already understood that many people still depend on cash. And it's not fine to remove cash completely. There are many small shop owners or street vendors and their livelihood depends on it. Also, there are elderly people may not know how to use digital payments. If cash is removed then they would be suffering the most. It would not be fair for them.
On the other hand, as I live in the city, I enjoy using digital payment. Because it's easier to use and takes a few seconds. I wouldn't say it's completely safe. But I don't like to carry money in my pocket. Because I may lose it accidentally. Also, when I am outside if my money runs out then I can contact my parents and ask them to send me money quickly. They don't have to come physically to give me money. Paying bills or buying things online also becomes much easier. Like my dad always pays internet bill and electricity bill online.
However, as I said digital payment is not always safe. What if the internet stops working? Or there's no network? Also, the payment app can have technical problems. Someone can hack my account as well, and online scams like we never know. So, if there is no cash at that moment then what can we do. We will become helpless and what if it's an emergency? So, people may not be able to buy food, medicine or other essential things during those times.
In my opinion, the government can improve digital payment systems and encourage people to use them but they should not completely remove cash. Everyone should have the freedom to choose the payment method that is best for them. I believe the best future is one where cash and digital payments exist together.
