I managed to get out for what I thought was going to be a little walk over to my friends house to drop off her jam order. Little did I know that when I arrived she was ready to WALK!
Well I wasn’t quite ready for a hardcore fast pace quite yet. I pulled my calf muscle last Wednesday and I’ve been very intentional about testing and healing.
We have two big multi-day hikes booked for the Summer Holidays and I can’t take any chances. But off we went anyway. V kept us on an easy and even path keeping me and my recovery in mind. We walked toward the lighthouse, chatting and catching up as we walked, as usual.
We met in January at the Summer Squad (our Bootcamp group) and we’ve been hiking and hanging out ever since. We’re quite similar in our manner and style and we’re also both quite low maintenance, no-nonsense types of gals.
We turned around at the lighthouse and backtracked to Vs house where we had a quick walk about checking her latest renovations.
And then I was on my way home across the green belt headed towards the opposite side of the village. The evening light was catching the Summer grasses beautifully and I couldn’t resist capturing it.
Just over the green belt and I did a little shadow hunting as I couldn’t glimpses of freshly painted walls and crisp shadows of our local flora.
The blue guns seemed to be standing extra tall to catch the late evening sun as it began to dip towards the horizon and cover me in shadows cast by the houses on each side of the street.
My calf seemed to be managing as I clocked 5 kilometres of steady walking. I had been planning about 3-4 kilometres but this was getting closer to 6 kilometres and a better work out that I had anticipated. And I had missed moving so much over the weekend.
I don’t do well confined or cooped up.
As I got to my front gate the sky turned hot pink. I didn’t capture it this time but as the Summer rolls in there will be many opportunities to admire our wonderful views from the edge of the shore.
This same sky will appear in a slightly different hue and a different arrangement of clouds tomorrow. And the opportunity to walk and admire will present itself once again.
Thanks it and about in the fresh air and taking in the life about us…
