The world still sees VZ as a war hero.

Z is a professional artist. This is the only thing he can (and should) do. He was never in politics or diplomacy, wasn't even a top manager. He does not know how to run the country. Almost all of his close circle have family in Russia (father, mither, brother..), some even have a Russian passport. But Z had a very good speechwriter in the first year or two of the full-scale invasion. Klitschko criticized Z for reason, but he himself is not much better as a mayor ((
